How Astrun collects, uses, and protects your information
Astrun ("Astrun," "we," "us," or "our") is a moon-calendar gardening application developed by Zeinen Technology. This Privacy Policy explains what information Astrun collects, how it is used, who it may be shared with, and what choices you have. By downloading, installing, or using Astrun, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
Astrun is designed with a local-first, minimal-data philosophy: your garden data (plants, journal entries, to-dos) lives on your device by default, and only leaves your device if you explicitly enable our optional Google Drive backup feature.
Astrun does not collect your precise/GPS location, does not access your contacts, does not track your browsing activity outside the app, and does not sell your personal data to third parties or use it for third-party advertising. Astrun displays no ads.
We use the information described above to:
Astrun's frost-alert feature requires a location to fetch a relevant weather forecast. Astrun asks you to type in a city name, which is converted into approximate geographic coordinates using a third-party geocoding service (Open-Meteo, see Section 6) purely to retrieve a weather forecast for that place.
Astrun does not request access to your device's GPS or fine/precise location at any point. The location associated with your account is only as precise as the city you choose to enter, and you may change or remove it at any time in Location Settings.
Astrun offers an optional, off-by-default backup feature that, once enabled, securely stores a backup of your garden data (plants, journal entries, to-dos, photos, and relevant app settings) in your own Google Drive account.
drive.appdata scope) — it does not request access to your other Drive files or folders.Astrun relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each processes only the minimum data necessary for its function, and each maintains its own privacy practices:
| Service | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Open-Meteo | Weather forecasting and city geocoding for frost alerts | City name you enter, converted to approximate coordinates; no account or personal identifier is sent |
| Google Play Billing | Subscription purchase and management | Purchase status, subscription state, transaction identifiers (handled by Google) |
| Google Drive API | Optional data backup, described in Section 5 | Your garden data, only if backup is enabled |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivering push notifications | A device notification token |
We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy for details on how Google Play Billing, Google Drive, and Firebase handle data.
By default, your garden data is stored locally on your device in a private, app-only database, and is never transmitted to Astrun's developers or any server we operate — Astrun does not currently operate its own backend server for garden data. Data only leaves your device if you enable Google Drive backup (Section 5), in which case it is transmitted directly and securely to your own Google Drive account.
If you set an app passcode, it is stored only as an irreversible cryptographic hash, on your device, never in plain text and never transmitted.
While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Astrun requires an active subscription to use the app's full functionality, offered through Google Play Billing, which may include a free trial period as described at the time of purchase. Astrun does not directly collect or store your payment card details — all payment processing is handled by Google Play, subject to Google's own privacy and payment terms. Astrun only receives confirmation of your subscription status (active, trial, expired, or cancelled) in order to grant or restrict access to app features accordingly.
If you grant notification permission, Astrun may send you notifications about frost risk, moon-phase changes, and to-do or journal reminders, based on preferences you control in Notification Settings. You may disable any or all notification categories at any time within the app, or disable notifications entirely through your device's system settings.
Astrun is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 15 so we can take appropriate action.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law (such as the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation) including the right to:
To exercise any of these rights beyond what is available directly in the app, please contact us using the details in Section 15.
Astrun is developed by Zeinen Technology, based in Hungary (European Union). If you use Astrun from outside Hungary or the EU/EEA, your information may be processed in Hungary or in the jurisdictions where our third-party service providers (Section 6) operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page when changes are made. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
